CareConsult for Youth Substance Use

August 11, 2026

CareConsult for Youth Substance Use is a recently launched service that offers virtual consultations for health-care professionals working with youth up to 25 years of age who have substance use health needs or experiencing substance use disorders. This professional-to-professional service is available to physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, addiction counsellors, and child and youth counsellors across Ontario.

This program employs a harm reduction, trauma and developmentally informed, and youth-centred approach, offering services such as:

  • Non-urgent clinical guidance
  • Support identifying substance use resources for youth
  • Mentorship and support for health-care professionals

The service does not provide direct patient care, support for urgent or emergency clinical concerns, resource navigation-only consultations, or guidance related to behavioural addictions.

Consultations are typically available within the same week and are offered in 30-minute sessions on Mondays (12:00 pm to 4:30 pm) and Thursdays (9:00 am to 12:00 pm). Appointments can be booked online.
